Games Organising Committee (GOC) Planners
Shape the Games from Start to Finish! Be part of the high-level planning and strategy team that oversees the entire Games. You’ll coordinate with different functional areas, support venue teams, and help ensure everything comes together perfectly. If you have strong communication, teamwork, and project management skills, this is a unique opportunity to make a big impact.
Games Planners will develop and manage a Games plan for a particular Functional Area e.g., Transport, Logistics, Media etc. They will coordinate and support Functional Area Coordinators at venue level before and during the Games.
GOC roles would best suit those who are able to dedicate time needed to fulfil the role from January 2026 to June 2026 with monthly meetings either online or in-person.

Make Everyone Feel at Home!
Assist in planning and coordinating accommodation arrangements for athletes and coaches, ensuring comfortable lodging and a seamless experience from arrival through departure. This team will collaborate with accommodation providers and delegation services to manage rooming lists, assignments, check-in procedures, special requirements, accessibility requests, and logistics for luggage and departures. You will also help to create a plan for event entertainment, including an awesome disco night lined up during the Games!

Accreditation: Ensuring Every Role Fits
Accreditation is the key element in providing a safe and secure environment for all Games participants. The primary role of the accreditation is to provide delegations and volunteers access to venues and entitlements appropriate to their functions/role at Games. In this position, you will:
- Collaborate with GOC planners to review and confirm access zones and entitlements for each functional area.
- Help design and finalise credentials including Day Passes, Guest Passes, Facility Passes, and other essential access tools.
- Be the primary liaison with accreditation contractors, overseeing testing, equipment readiness, supply availability, and system integration.
- Ensure that all accreditation components are accurate, functional, and aligned with the Games’ operational needs.

Join the Guest Services team and help us welcome our distinguished guests in style e.g. VIPs, sponsors, and special supporters. You’ll make sure every guest feels valued and enjoys their time at the Games. If you’re friendly, organised, and love meeting new people, this is a fantastic opportunity to shine. This role operates at GOC level only.
The Healthy Athlete Programme Team has responsibility for the overall direction and management of the Healthy Athlete Programme for the Games.
Help to define a Healthy Athlete Programme (HAP) system of care for games time and ensure its effective operation. And assist in recruiting an expert advisory team to provide guidance and decision making on the services provided, who they are provided to and how, and operational management during the planning, implementing and operations phases of the Games.
The purpose of this role is to plan, implement and maintain all necessary IT applications, systems and secure network infrastructure for a successful Games. This involves supporting the overall Games Organising Committee, individual functional areas and venue teams. You will work alongside the existing Special Olympics Ireland IT team with access to historical operating plans and after-action-reports from previous events. In the lead up to the event and during the Games themselves we will rely on phones, computers and other IT infrastructure to ensure the Games run smoothly and efficiently. The IT team will be responsible for planning, delivering and supporting applications, hardware and networks for the event. Most of these applications already exist so the focus will primarily be on reliable delivery.
Be the Backbone of the Games!
As a team member, you'll help develop a plan for providing equipment and supplies to all venues. Prior experience in warehousing is beneficial, especially if you can manage documentation and recording systems.
We're looking for Warehouse Volunteers before the Games begin to assist with receiving goods such as food, signage, drinks, and medical supplies. The warehouse team will work on a roster during the Games, and support will also be needed immediately afterward to collect, organise, and manage equipment and stock.
This position requires significant manual handling, so please consider your availability from April, throughout the Games, and in the following week.
Venue Signage and Decorations Planning
Join the team responsible for designing and coordinating the look and signage at all event venues. This role involves developing plans to create an inviting and clearly navigable environment for all attendees. Candidates with strong organisational skills and a creative approach to enhancing spaces are encouraged to consider this opportunity.
Within each venue, the operations team will oversee the management and distribution of signage as required. Responsibilities include planning the logistics for distributing signs and banners throughout the venues. Please note, this position is available exclusively at the planning level (GOC).
Nourish Champions at Every Turn!
As a Planner, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring every delegation member and volunteer enjoys a delicious and nourishing lunch at all venues. You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic team, considering dietary needs and collaborating with suppliers and partners to seamlessly coordinate the sourcing, ordering, and delivery of all lunch and snack items to each site.
Working closely with the logistics team, you’ll also help ensure every venue is equipped with the right catering equipment and utensils. Please note—this role is about orchestrating exceptional service, not preparing the food itself!
Support the Media Services Team and Shine a Spotlight on the Games!
Join the team to coordinate media activities, share information, and support coverage of the Games. If you're organised, friendly, and interested in media or communications, this is a key opportunity.
Medical Support Services
This team will help the Delegation’s Medical Coordinators by addressing any queries related to the needs of delegation members. Responsibilities include reviewing athlete medical forms to ensure that appropriate levels of medical coverage are in place.
Additionally, the team will serve as the primary contact for collaboration with the appointed medical contractor regarding coverage levels, supplies, and workforce requirements. Team members will contribute to the planning and delivery of essential medical services, ensuring that the needs of the delegations are met both at competition venues and accommodation sites. Relevant medical qualifications are required.

This person will have lead responsibility for safeguarding and must have attended Safeguarding 3 (ROI) or Designated Safeguarding Children's Officer (DSCO) (NI).
What you’ll do: You will work with the Venue Safeguarding Officers to ensure the implementation of SOI’s safeguarding policies at each venue. You will support these Safeguarding Officers in addressing any concerns following a venue assessment for any safeguarding risks. During the Games, you will act as part of a Triage Team for any safeguarding issues, and ensure all concerns are properly recorded and reported.

Champion Safety at the Games!
Help develop and implement safety plans across all venues. You’ll work with venue teams to make sure everyone enjoys a safe and secure Games experience. If you’re detail-oriented and passionate about safety, your skills are needed here.
Create the Soundtrack of the Games!
The Sound Production team will take a lead role in assessing all competition and non-competition venues to determine the specific sound production equipment required. This includes evaluating each site for sporting and safety announcement needs, motivational music setups, and awards ceremony support, ensuring every venue delivers a clear, professional, and consistent sound experience throughout the Games.
You will also be responsible for scoping the radio communications needs at each venue in conjunction with the Venue Operations Manager. This involves identifying the necessary radios and developing fleet maps to support operational communications.
Spectator Services are the eyes & the ears of the Games.
Spectator Services are the eyes & the ears of the Games. They help and provide directional information to spectators and other accredited persons. They will ensure the flow of people in and around the venues, monitor access to certain areas and support venue operations at each venue. You will liaise with the Venue Teams to:
- Identify the Spectator Services requirements at their venue and assist in the scheduling and positioning of the Spectator Services Volunteers
- Agree pedestrian routes and crowd flow strategies in the venue
- Create a plan for the safe and efficient management of traffic flow and parking in the venues ensuring as smooth a transition as possible for participants between their vehicles and the venue and that all vehicle access and exit routes remain clear
- Plan for the implementation of emergency procedures with assistance from fellow managers.
Equip the Games for Success!
Be part of the team that sources and manages sports equipment to venues. You’ll help make sure athletes and officials have everything they need for competitions. You will assist the Venue Competition Manager to identify awards areas and equipment at all venues and to develop the awards flow.
Keep Everyone Moving!
As a member of the Team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the Games-time transport strategy for all accommodation and competition venues. This position encompasses oversight of the traffic management plan, liaising with appointed Coach Company to ensure the efficient and safe transport of athletes between their accommodation and competition locations.
The Team will coordinate the daily movement of athletes and coaches from their accommodation venues to competition sites and back each evening, liaising with the Spectator Services Managers in each venue. This role focuses on the planning and implementation of the transport operations, rather than driving vehicles.
